Most of us have sat across from a colleague, a team member or a friend and sensed something wasn't right. And most of us have said nothing, because we didn't know what to say or worried about saying the wrong thing.
Many of the people others lean on are also quietly running on empty themselves.
This workshop works on both sides of that. First, you'll build the awareness and language to recognise when someone is struggling and to open a conversation that helps. Then the focus turns to you: understanding your own patterns under pressure and building a self-care practice you can actually sustain.
You won't leave as a counsellor. You'll leave knowing what to look for, what to say, where to point people for professional help, and how to stay well enough to keep showing up.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
People managers and team leaders who want to support their people without overstepping
HR and L&D practitioners exploring how to build mental health awareness in their organisation
Wellbeing champions and peer supporters
Anyone who is often the person others turn to, and wants to do that well without burning out
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Understand mental health as a continuum
Distinguish mental health from mental illness, and recognise where common workplace conditions sit along the spectrum.
Recognise the early signs
Identify warning signs, triggers and risk factors in others, and judge whether a concern is low, moderate or high.
Open a conversation that helps
Use progressive conversation skills, from a light check-in to a harder conversation, and know when and how to point someone towards professional support.
Create safety for honest conversations
Build trust and psychological safety while navigating hierarchy, face-saving and cultural sensitivities.
Understand your own patterns
Examine your personal stress triggers, values and early warning signs.
Build self-care that lasts
Design a realistic 30-day plan that protects you from compassion fatigue and keeps you well enough to support others.
INSIDE THE WORKSHOP
MODULE 1
Mental Health, Without the Stigma
We start by building a shared, accurate language for mental health, and by looking honestly at why it is still so hard to talk about at work.
Mental health and mental illness: what’s the difference?
The mental health continuum and common workplace conditions
Stigma, culture and what psychological safety really requires
MODULE 2
Noticing the Signs, Starting With You
You can’t read what’s happening in others until you can read it in yourself. We start with your own emotional patterns, the foundation for noticing sooner in everyone else.
Emotional self-awareness and personal triggers
How your values and motivation shape your responses
Mindfulness and reflection practices
MODULE 3
Workplace Stressors and Levels of Risk
Most struggles show up at work long before anyone says a word. You’ll learn what commonly sets them off and how to gauge how serious a situation is.
Common workplace stressors and how they show up
Gauging risk: low, moderate and high
MODULE 4
Conversations That Help
Knowing something is wrong is only useful if you can open the door, and know what to do when someone tells you they’re not okay. You’ll practise conversations from a light check-in to a harder one met with resistance.
Human connection, trust and psychological safety
Navigating hierarchy, face-saving and cultural sensitivities
Progressive conversation skills, practised in pairs
When it’s beyond you: where to point people for professional support in Malaysia
MODULE 5
Sustainable Self-care
Supporting others draws on your own reserves. This module looks at what drains them, what refills them, and how to build support around yourself.
Recognising and preventing compassion fatigue
Practical techniques for support and accountability
Building support systems at work
MODULE 6
Your 30-Day Commitment
We close by turning the day into a plan you’ll actually follow.
A personal 30-day self-care action plan
Key takeaways and reflection

YOUR FACILITATOR
Michelle Chee
Founder & Lead Facilitator, Physis Global | ICF ACC Coach · HRDC Accredited Trainer
Michelle has delivered this programme for organisations across manufacturing, technology and professional services, including Robert Bosch Malaysia. Before founding Physis Global, she spent over a decade in leadership roles in Australia.
Her facilitation is direct and warm, built on a simple observation: workplaces sidestep genuine emotion because it feels risky, and that is exactly where the useful work begins. In the room, she keeps things practical, private and grounded in the realities of Malaysian workplaces, from hierarchy to face-saving to the pressure to keep going.
